Standing Out
I don't get the opportunity to shoot our feathered friends nearly as much as I would like, (little short on the long lens side). But this fella came out to see what I was up to Sunday morning, and set long enough for me to get his picture.

Nothing beats a cardinal on evergreen with snow. Nice image.

Hard to miss these standout beauties in winter when they are nearby. Do you have feeders up in your yard to attract songbirds?

I know you tried my 100-400L when we were out on the Konza prairie and there just so happens to be a thread here with one available. Combined with your body you're looking at 640 mm and 5.6 ... might be worth considering.

Thanks for sharing Brad! Happy New Year! :wavey:

Brad a lovely cardinal shot, always beautiful. It has very Christmasy colors that I love also.

Nice job in taking this one, Brad. Bird shots have never been easy for me due to the high ISO needed for fast shutter. Good detail in the cedar and cardinal here though...thanks for posting.

Great shot. The cardinal is beautiful and contrasts well with the dark cedar tree. He looks like he's trying to keep warm! It was frosty out that morning - I was out in it but didn't have these beautiful red feathers to keep me warm and toasty  Have a great new year!
