This picture I shot yesterday morning on my way to a shop in Arnhem.
I'm passing a national nature park (Veluwezoom/Posbank) and made some pictures. One of this dead looking tree. And yes Holland is not flat everywhere, we do have real hills.
Exposure time 1/320 s
F-number f/4
ISO speed ratings ISO 100
Focal length 500 mm
Handheld.
No crop
Mod's for WB.
C&C as always welcome.

180 viewings of your image Tom and not the cutesie of a reply. So much for British good maners.
Personal opinion. The tree would perhaps have looked better taken from a low angle and set to one side.
As for hills in Holland. Mere Mole hills I'm afraid.

I feel guilty now for not replying on this one, especially as this is a C&C site. I have looked at it a few times and I have to say , it does nothing for me whatsoever. The subject is fine and as beautiful as just about everything in nature is, but I think it would have served the image far better as a smaller focal point in a bigger landscape. As it is there is even a branch cut off by the crop which means that you don't even have the whole tree.
Don't be too sure that a lack of replies is bad manners. Good manners may, rightly or wrongly be stopping people from appearing too negative. I am sorry to be so negative about it myself Tom, but I always look at my replies and ask myself why one shot draws less replies than another and the inescapable conclusion is that it didn't grab peoples attention and that is one of the things that photography is all about. A lack of response can tell you something in its own right. Back to the drawing board I'm afraid. Eric
I have to agree with Eric on this one, to me it looks totally flat and I am afraid it dont do anything for me either. This and a sense of if you cannot say anything good dont say anything may well account for the lack of response.
Sorry to be so negative about it
Regards
Ian

I agree with many of the above comments but in my humble opinion the old looking tree is a good photographic subject & would probably look good in black & white
Hello all,
Thanks for the comments. Please do not apologize for being negative. It's a free forum as far as I know so you have the right to be negative as long as you stay serious about it (and I suppose you are). I'm posting here to learn, not to get only positive comments, which would imply I'm a perfect photographer (I don not believe that if you would tell me ).
So no problem and thanks again.
