My First Goldfinch
Hi my first gold finch picture at last..

(P.S thanks to Eric again for the prop  )

I set this up in the garden and pre-focused on the thistle, and use a phottix wireless remote to trigger the camera from the kitchen..(bargain Christmas pressie from eBay £28) , i set the aperture a little higher to get me a little more DOF.

D300
200-400 @ 400mm
F5.6
1/40th
800 ISO

Light was bad today. so very low shutter speeds.

Remote trigger??? Still waiting for the snow leopard I assume. Isn't it cheating pressing the remote manually?

thanks for the feedback guys.. I'll have another bash, with the camera in portrait mode.

Eric, i was about to click the shutter on the snow leopard but a sea eagle swooped out of the sky and carried it away

Cheers

Nice one Mark. Beautiful bird. It's a shame we don't have them around here in forest area's.

Well done.

Agree with the portrait mode & with more of the teasel in the shot but hey, it's still a cracking shot Mark & one to be very pleased with.

All the best :toast: :toast:

Mark, classic pose, probably better portrait but definitely needs more headroom. Nice shot all the same. I also use a Phottix remote from ebay on my D300 - good deal! Cliff

Lovely goldfinch Mark, great exposure too. Agree a portrait with the complete teasel head may improve it but still like the shot a lot
