I was heading up to do some mountaineering stuff on Pikes Peak yesterday when a rock was blown off the canyon wall on Highway 24 and shattered my back right window. The wind was ridiculous yesterday, and needless to say, I stayed off Pikes Peak and decided to hike back in North Cheyenne Canon, a place I need to visit more often. This is probably my favorite shot of the day, but others can be seen here:

Glad to see your OK. Must have been fun trying to hike and steady a tripod. The wind was ferocious in Boulder had a hard time keeping the van on the road.
I am OK, but it was a little scary when it happened. Back where I hiked the wind wasn't an issue, so I didn't have a tripod on me. What I like about my Olympus E-520 is the built-in sensor shift mechanism...I can get some pretty sharp shots at shutter speeds that wouldn't be possible without the built-in IS. But, a tripod is ALWAYS the best solution!

The blown out sky is a technical issue, but not a major one. The scene otherwise is quite interesting though, especially the area around the main trunk.
Glad to hear you weren't hurt by the rockfall. There have certainly been some bad ones on 24 over the years.
