Welcome to the forum Ian
Lovely light, have you considered a black and white conversion on this one Iain ?, it might help the tree stand out a little more.

Welcome Ian, I'm not a landscape person but this looks great to me, wonderful colours! I'm sure you'll get lots of useful and constructive advice from the many helpful members here.

Thanks for the comments!
Any tips on the best way to convert colour to b&w? I'd like to try Steve's suggestion and convert it to mono.
Thanks again!

Hi Iain, great first post, really like the colours in this one. I'm not a landscape expert nor the best at post-processing but a mono conversion may work well - there are many ways of doing it depending on what software you use, but the "convert to mono" in elements works ok. You can then use the dodge/burn tool to darken the clouds and lighten the tree against the hillside perhaps. There used to be a video tutorial on dodging and burning on photoanswers.co.uk
Can't think of any improvements off hand. It looks very nice to me as it is. I like how the tree on the right balances with the other focal point, that of the sunlit valley.
I like the slightly menacing sky too.

I haven't processed it, apart from levels & and upping the saturation a tad, but I'd be interested in what people think/suggest any improvements?
