Happy New Year, everyone ! Here’s what happens in Lightroom when you party too much.

On the way to Bosque del Apache, I made a quick side trip to scout the Petroglyph National Monument in the Albuquerque suburbs.

I only had 2 hours to explore, but I was impressed with the incredible variety and quantity of Rio Grande style petroglyphs on just this one trail. I highly recommend setting aside a day to explore this treasure just off the interstate. I’ve probably driven by hundreds of times.

The afternoon light was harsh and the "straight" images are rather uninspiring. So, I went a bit crazy with the processing.
My wife hates them because it is not what she remembers. Just wondering if these have any appeal to you folks, or does the processing detract from the image?

The processing works for me, but then again, I like alternative processing techniques and styles. I really need to get to Petroglyph National Monument.

It's art! To each, his/her own. I think they look great.

I like them, especially number 6.

Wow, very cool. I really like your processing on the first two. Interesting place, I may check it out since I will be in Albuquerque in February. Thanks for posting these!

Interesting, makes a nice series! Has an 'artsy' feel to it, maybe not the best approach for "nature photography" but it works well as more of a vision. I like #3 the best.

I like the addition of the sky to 1 and 2. None of the 6 give the impression that they were heavily processed to me, but then I've never been there.

Don, I'm sure everyone's definition of "heavy" processing will vary, but this is pretty radical for me, and far outside my comfort zone. Above is a "conventional" version of #1.

Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone. I'll have to look at this set again in a few months and see if I still like them.

I think they are pretty cool, especially 1 & 3. I know what you mean by checking them out again in a few months to see if they still hold up for you. Sometimes I need to detach for a period to allow myself to be more objective.
