Taken a few days ago in freezing conditions while waiting for a King fisher to come along.
He was not bothered by me being there & came and perched only 15 - 20 feet away.
Im not sure if the oof twig in the background is a distraction or not
Canon EOS 20D, 100-400mm IS AV mode F5.6 1/40th iso 400 on a monopod. cropped for comp, resized for web.

Nice one Lee, crisp with good feather detail. I'd clone the pale twig out, but as I'm sure you'll find there are very mixed views on cloning
Unfortunately the twig in the background does spoil the image a bit but of course they rarely perch in the perfect spot.
Nice composition though with the perch on the diagonal.

Hi Lee,
Great shot! The eye is pin sharp and the composition is great! That branch is a little distracting but it can easily be got rid of. Overall a great post!

Whether the offending twig, is bent out of shot prior to exposure or in Photoshop it is all the same to me, but I would still take it out.
An excellent opportunist shot, excellent detail etc.. Well seen and taken.
Nice composition though with the perch on the diagonal.
