This and the following are three shots from Bisti Wilderness that I'm mulling over. I'd like opinions on whether the color or B&W version is stronger. Other comments are welcome too.
The color versions are essentially monochromatic with shades of yellow/orange so they lend themselves to B&W, but I like the strong afternoon light which the color versions emphasize.
Thanks in advance.

Well, Kalin, I really like both versions of all of them. They both invoke different responses from me. Your renditions of the shapes are just excellent. They are unique to me as I have never seen them before. The color are more organic, while the b&w are more form and light.

I also like the B&W versions, especially #2. Of the color versions, I think #5 works best. The blue in the shadows and the creamy white rock give it something more than yellow/orange.

I like the BW version, although I like the color in #3. Nice warm light.
Hi Kalin,
The sky seems so dominant in #1 that it distracts from the main subject. #2 gets my vote for the best B&W.
I'd like to see less of the sky and more of the foreground in #3 and the B&W version doesn't do much for me - maybe too contrasty?
For a color shot, #5 is the best and the B&W rendition is equally good.

I prefer the B&W on all counts. In #2 I'd tone down the sky a bit and add a little contrast to the rocks in the foreground, in #4 I'd open up the shadows and lose a little contrast, and #6, my favorite, maybe open the shadows just a tad. They're all really nice though, Kalin.

B&W on all counts. Very nice images all around. I love the Bird of Prey! Looks like its turning to fire on another ship!
Guess I'm going to have to get my butt out to Bisti. I can't live in NM for 25 years and not go there! You Coloradoans are making me look bad!

Thanks for your opinions and advice, everyone! I do appreciate it. I'm still mulling but your input helps.

I like #6 and #2. The light just doesn't seem to be right for the color versions.

I agree with Grant.
At Bisti, the trick is to separate the forms from the busy backgrounds, so #6 and #2 work best for me.
