Red in Winter
Finally managed to get a decent shot of a male Cardinal this winter. I had the camera set up on my tripod in the living room and just happened to walk by while he was perched. I was able to get only one quick shot, then he flew down to the feeder.
Cloned out a twig that was partly in front of his breast.

Nice as always, I think I like the female shot better, but he is fine.

Nice catch, Toni! I agree about cardinals in winter, they make for great subjects. Now if I could get one to pose like this gorgeous fellow, I'd be delighted. I notice you posted this on the evening the AZ cardinals won their first playoff game. Coincidence? This image actually reminded me of their helmet.

What everyone else said...male cardinals in winter make great subjects because of the shock of color. Great catch, Toni.

Thanks everyone! Brian...pure coincidence regarding the AZ Cardinals! I'm not a big football fan except when it comes to MSU and U of M.

Beautiful, Toni. I like the touch of snow around his face.

Hey Toni,
I love this! I love how the background goes into soft and dreamy tones. Amazing that this is taken through a window. Very well done!
