Can anyone recommend a source for batteries for the new Canon 5D Mark 11? Lithium LP-E6. I'm leaving for Yellowstone at the end of the month and most of the sources I've checked are out of stock.
Thanks!

Lots of them available on ebay, but most have to be ordered from Honk Kong.

Of course I meant HONG KONG.

Beware of generic or cheap "third party" batteries. Not all have a good record. They vary from not as much capacity to actually blowing up in the charger.

Geez, you've got a 5D Mark 11??? I haven't even gotten a Mark-II yet!

I thought about those aftermarket batteries too, but the current crop is not at all in line with Canon's standards. For example, the new Canon batteries have chips in them that communicate with the camera, providing information about the battery charge status etc. The cheapo-deapo's don't.
On eBay, one seller states that when you put the batter in that the 5D2 will say it can't communicate with the battery, go ahead anyway...that doesn't sound like a viable option to me.
Plus the fact that (as mentioned) they require their own dedicated chargers.
So, unlike I have normally done in the past, I'm holding out for the real batteries from Canon on this one.

I would keep your canon battery in your armpit all day and all night long before buying the cheap versions.
I bought one from an online source for my old 5d and it didn't even fit in there. They sent me a new one and same thing. I didn't want to send it back so I filed down the plastic to fit it in there.
I also bought one at Best Buy. They said it would last longer than the canon battery. NOPE!! They said it a higher level of Mah, it did but that made no difference. Good luck!! I'm waiting on Adorma for mine. My car charger works ok for now.

I agree that you need to be careful about buying aftermarket batteries,,,read the description and what others have to say about seller, battery, etc. I will add that I have been using aftermarket batteries in 3 point and shoot digital cameras and 2 digital SLR's cameras for a long time with no issues and a considerable savings in cash.
FWIW, I just ordered factory canon spare batts for the 5DMII from HB Leiserowitz in Des Moines Iowa. Ask for Rick. he had them in stock as of yesterday...
