Well,
You guys really have been killing me with your Yosemite Winter shots.
So I decided to take a kamakazi day trip up there this weekend to check things out. I left at 2:30AM from Monterey on Saturday and arrived for sunrise. I was hoping that the storm on Friday would produce fresh snow. Unfortunately it was too warm and rained instead which took all the snow off the trees. But since it had snowed so much over Christmas there was still snow and ice on the ground around the Merced. It was still very beautiful and pristine looking in the lesser known areas. The sky was mostly clear so I focused on river reflections. Here is one I like: http://landandseaphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/7006312_tzV5E#448919967_U2Xwc-XL-LB
I look forward to going back and catching a fresh snow this Winter. 'F8 and be there' is really key for Winter shooting in Yosemite. Let the Winter storms come!
Impressive reflection. It is amazing how much of El Cap you can see in the water. Nicely seen and way to make the most out of what the conditions hand you.

Thanks Harley,
It was pretty amazing looking into the Merced seeing these huge granite peak reflections. And I thought the ice and snow would have melted around the river. But fortunately it was still there even with the warmer weather.
Jeffrey, I didn't have time to create the web sizes yet and am at work now. So I'll probably post some individual images later. I just wanted to provide an overview of the trip and current conditions.
Derek - you can just use smugmug's post link and choose medium size, paste that in the url box and all is good. (now if someone can explain to me why you can't do that with follow up posts, and only the original post.. and then change that... I'd much appreciate it! Or if you can - let me know how!).

Floris,
I have thought of that before. However I normally prefer to resize for the web @ 720dpi and then do a little extra sharpening. The SM sizes fall right in between to 720 size. It would be great if I could edit the original post and add in a photo as in this case. But the only thing I can do is to create a new thread with the way it works now. So I'll probably create a new thread later tonight.

The second link posted here (number 5) is exactly what I was referring to in my previous comment. Perfect... print it big and enjoy!

Eric,
I am glad you noticed this one: http://landandseaphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/7006312_tzV5E#448546162_hYVJ6-A-LB
This is my wife's favorite as well and it is starting to grow on me. I just wasn't sure which one I liked better. The composition is a little different in that it is showing 'part' of the actual El Cap face upright. I also shot one with full mirror images and a lot of blue sky but found that less interesting.
