If so could you email me I'm having some basic set up troubles and not sure if its me being a simpleton or if I've got a duff machine - I strongly suspect the latter but would welcome feedback from someone with a working machine.......
Try ERIC CHAN.
What he doesn't know about the 3800 probably isn't worth knowing.

Thanks Justin, I've already read up this website
The pressurised inking system doesn't seem to be working I'm getting no ink flow at all after set up, I've tried nozzle cleaning etc etc, - as the ribbon to the head hasn't changed colour me thinks there is an inkflow issue - does the ribbon to head carriage change colour if ink has charged up to the head nozzles on Epsons or remain white......every thing else seems to be working fine paper feed and cleaning routine makes promising churning noises..... but no inkflow - its driving me nuts!

Hi Mike,
I bought a 3800 several months ago, I never had any sort of problem like this.. I just whacked the cartridges in there and away it went, (after i'd removed around a million of those foam blocks used in transportation)
On mine, the ribbon to the head is multicoloured, I assume thats because its full of ink - although I never saw it before I put the cartridges in, so not sure whether the lines themselves which are coloured or its the ink in clear tubing!
I do know that if the lines are fully charged with ink on a brand new printer, you'll lose around 15-20% of all ink from your cartridges before the first print (obviously due to filling the empty lines) so you should definitley be able to tell whether its charged or not by looking on the display and seeing how much ink your carts have - if they're all still showing 100% i'd be suspicious..
The only issue i've ever had was with replacing a new cartridge, it wouldn't detect it until I took it out and put it back in... then it worked..
Sorry I'm not much more help, but mine just worked pretty much out of the box... Did you give the cartridges a damn good shake before putting them in? I doubt its anything but it said to do so before installing.

Thanks guys,
Tim - I was worried that I had overlooked a piece of blue packing tape, but I've since taken the machine to a specialist Epson authorised repairer, its amazing what you find resides only a few miles away.... - their diagnosis is a severly blocked head and hence no ink flow - the cartridge ribbon has stayed white despite several nozzle checks etc I suspected it was an ink flow problem - machine is on its way back from whence it came
