This is the first year I've spent any time in the La Sals during winter. Boy have I been missing out! They give much pleasure during the spring, again in the summer and they go totally overboard in the fall. Then, just when you think they've given it all, winter rolls around and they give a little more.
I made this image today at sunset. Thirty minutes later I was at home chowing on a giant bowl of spaghetti. Life is good. Very, very good.
Thanks for having a look and leaving a comment.

Gorgeous shot Bret! Who needs Fall colors when you have this kind of light thru the aspens and on the snow. And the fact that it is only 30 minutes away makes this even sweeter.
This is an unconventionally 'warm' Winter shot that works very well. It just looks so darn inviting. It seems to say 'come out and play!'

It's hard to beat finding such satisfaction in your own back yard. Really nice image Bret! You're making a killing in the La Sals. Lets hope they keep giving.

Great job Bret! I really like the warm twilight tone to this image. Makes me think that I could hear
a pin drop, if I was there.

Very nice Bret, how about a winter sunrise or sunset shot next from the top of the La Sals?

Really nice, Brett. I like the straight and evenly spaced trees. Plus the nice light, of course. Looks like a good spot to try after a fresh snow, too?
That is terrific Bret! That is some sweet light and a terrific image! I've been wanting to get some aspen in the snow, but I don't think I'm going to get anything anywhere near this nice!

Love that light on the trunks.
30 minutes from home!! Do they give cops speeding tickets?

Sweet! Love the pastels. I'm glad to hear you're coming up for the Shindig. It will be nice to meet.
Thanks for the comments, folks. I had been out photographing a burn area when I saw what looked like a killer sunset forming. So, I detoured up to these aspens for the show that did not disappoint.
Bill: There's this little thing called "professional courtesy", which means cops don't make other cops do their jobs. However, on the off-chance that we are caught speeding - it's pretty rare to get a ticket. Of course, I've never been pulled over in Utah, Colorado or Georgia and had to use a "get out of ticket free" card.
Kalin: I'm really looking forward to meeting a bunch of my fellow RMNP'ers I haven't yet had the pleaure of meeting, yourself included.

If I was free I'd try to hitch a ride as you drive by.
Anyways, I really like the warmth in this shot although I'm pretty sure it was anything but warm outside.
