I actually captured this a couple weeks prior to the recent snowfall out at the park. This was one of the better sunrises during this time of the year that I have ever witnessed. The winter light can be a bit fickle out at Joshua Tree N.P. depending upon the overall atmospheric conditions along with the multitude of contrails from Palm Springs Airport in the early morning travel traffic. This scene is looking toward the northwest corner away from the southeast area where most of the air traffic can be. Thank you in advance for your comments.

Hey Paul,
I love the colors here; the sky of course and also the golden browns of the rock and brush. The lighting is soft, but very appealing to my eye. I like the overall comp with the exception of the intruding grasses in the LLC. Not a huge deal and I don't see a clean crop that would take care of that. But minor none the less. This also has a quiet and peaceful mood to it.
Nice light and cool sky. I would agree with Lon on the grasses intruding. Nice mood to the image.

Gorgeous light, Paul! For me I find the boulders of JTNP to be more interesting than
the Joshua Trees.

I've recently been contemplating making a short backpacking trip to JTree and seeing this is making it hard to resist. I like the soft morning light and colors captured here. Those rock outcroppings are nicely shaped... I almost wished this was taken just beyond the joshua trees in the fg, so that the rocks take more of a center stage. Then again, that wouldn't necessarily display how those nice rocks often stand overlooking the desert scenery. Nice work!
