Apparently my last link didn't hold so I put it on a real server. I decided not to crop the image but I am starting to think it would have looked better if I had.

Multi-Image HDR of the moon rings tonight. I did the HDR only so I could get both sets of rings. The outer ring was huge, I had to get my 12-24mm out in order to get it all. Let me know what you think.

I like it a lot. Wish it were a bit larger...
Has to be a first for HDR technique, eh? How many images did you stack?
Is that Venus right next to the moon?

Finally, I think you could stand to lose that black object in the lower right corner.

Very cool shot, Jim. I don't understand why you needed HDR to get both rings. Can you elaborate?

Here is also a version that has the tree removed and I feel is a better crop.

The reason I had to do an HDR to get both rings is because the outer ring was a little light. When I had a good exposure on the outer ring it made the moon huge and the highlights blown out. It also lost the definition of the inner ring at the same time. So I combined 6 images ranging from 1 second to 30 seconds at 12mm f5 to get the final product.

I do believe that was venus next to the moon at the time.

Thanks for explaining, Jim. I appreciate it. The repost is better!
