New Snow
Still working on my Yosemite film. More to come, but it is going slow.

Sure wished I loved shooting digital. It is WAY easier to process an image, no scanning, no major dust cleanup, no film and processing costs, etc. But large format works far better for me in the field (I am more creative, more involved in the process, more joy in the making of images), so I have to go with what works. The sacrifices for art and passion.......

Chamonix 4x5
Fujinon 450mm
Astia 100

Comments and critiques are most welcome.

Oh yes, well I can sure relate to your follow up comment here, Harley. First this is a wonderful scene and fits the B&W perfectly.
I once said I would never own a foreign car, well, as the world turns these days who knows what maybe made in the future.
With that said, as long as film is made I'll stay with what works for me best. I'm best setup for shooting film and plan to stay with it. Not sure if that leads into not being too smart, or just plain can't leave my old comfort zone.

Harley,

You know I'm with ya regarding the 4x5 process. Perhaps it's not for everyone and there's a pretty decent learning curve, but I get so much satisfaction out of the process of capturing an image and then seeing those trannies on the light table... (don't tell anyone, but I would love to have a dslr too.)

Another Yosemite winter classic. What is somewhat unique is the uniform gray fog at the top of the image. That really works for me in keeping the focus up front where it belongs with no distracting elements in the background. A great scene for b&w and the processing looks right on from what I can see here. No nits at all.

I think all this needs is a nice border around a large print. Right now the fg snow kind of gets lost in this web version for me, without a border. Other than that, the overall composition and tonal range looks good to me. Nice work!

Harley,

Wonderful image and perfect for B&W. I like the balance of the pine with the oaks. And like the others, I too am willing to go the 4x5 route rather than digital for as long as I can. I find I am mush more creative.
