Folks -
I believe that I am still officially the meeting coordinator for this group. Due to my job situation for the last two years, and for the foreseeable future, I haven't been in a position to organize events.
If anyone is interested in taking over for me, I believe the other members of this group would be happy to have more regional gatherings than I am able to currently put together.
I realize that this is a large geographical region, so it may be possible to have co-coordinators, say Minnesota/Wisconsin, Illinois/Indiana, Ohio/Michigan, or any other grouping.

It's not clear to me how this group is actually structured. Do we have a charter and some official positions? Maybe someone can fill me in.

Dan, I'm in the same position as you...no job and the only trips I can afford to make are to see my family in OH and KY. However, day trips in SW MI I can probably handle should anyone be interested in doing that.
Ken, the only official positions we have right now is that Chuck takes care of the pages..that is Home page, Members, etc and he also creates the seasonal banners...and yours truly as the Moderator of this forum. No charter as such...this forum and the others are all part of NPN..it's not a "club" as such.

Ken, there is also an informal meeting coordinator position. When this group first started, and up to the start of my job chaos, the person would select a couple of places to meeting and shoot(!!!). Various meetings have included the Michigan Upper Peninsula (three times), Maggie Marsh (all but 2006 and 2008), SW Ohio for wildflowers, Minnesota North Shore and a few other locations.
It is pretty straight forward to do. Select a location of interest and a date, look for a couple of motel and/or campgrounds and hopefully have some knowledge of the area for locations and restaurants. There is a little bit more than that, but not much. Some meetings have resulted in a picnic being scheduled, sometimes maps, someitmes portfolio sharing, etc.
There are enough people here so if you want to try a location you are not real familar with, someone can help with ideas, especially if it is weekend meeting.
It is a great way to meet many of the members here, either as a coordinator or as an attendee, and a lot better than being eaten by mosquitos all day, by yourself.

I'm not interested in being a coordinator, but if we ever want to plan a KY event, I have connections. Being a state wildlife biologist does have perks, I know lots of public areas, access the the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi, unfortunately a big salary is not one of them, so long trips are likely out for me.

Hey Dan,
Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into the MWNP outings in the past several years. The times I was able to go were a lot of fun. It is a wonderful way to get know each other as well as learning of new areas to shoot at.
I hope you can find a clear direction with your job situation.
I know it is late for this year but if anyone wanted to come next year in Jan to shoot eagles I would see what I could set up. It is not far from food and lodging. Would be plenty of time to work on it.
If I were in a more stable job position myself, I'd be interested. The next year should put me in a different spot. Hopefully somebody can step up to the plate.
