I copied in the last of my old 6cm x 6cm slides this morning - at least for now, so from my next posting I shall be back to current stuff.

This sparrowhawk nest was photographed in 1979. It was about 40 feet up an oak tree and we slung a hide off the trunk of the tree using commercial scaffolding. The young in the picture are about 17 days old, and the female has just brought in a meal - hence all the movement amongst the chicks. Four young eventually fledged from the nest.

Like my last posting, this was taken on a Mamiya C220 with 180mm super sekors using Agfa CT18 film.

great image, an older style of photography, don't really see nest shots nowadays,

the quality does seem very low though, the original 6x6cm slide must look great so i'm wondering where along the line the quality has been sacrificed?

I like this, the eye in the adult really stands out & the movement of the chicks suit this image.

I won't say those days are gone, but it is a style of image we don't see much anymore.

Still has it's place in the history of our game though!!

Thanks for sharing.

I have to admit that Jack has a point, the quality of the image as posted lacks something that was present when I was processing the image yesterday. I could blame compression, but that is really just a convenient excuse. The real problem, as usual, is probably the nut behind the camera... I'll play around with it a little more.

Despite a lot of effort, I can't quite get the first posting to a standard I am now satisfied with, but just to show that I did get some shots scanned in reasonably well, here is another one from an earlier session.

Lovely shots David, I prefer the second one, seems sharper.
