Low sun Kestrel
After freezing my $$$s off for 3 hours trying for flying shots of Short eared Owls and with the sun setting, the light finally gave up and with the birds being a long way off I decided to call it a day. Having only driven a hundred yards along the track I saw this kestrel. My first thought was that he would fly before I got anywhere near it, but it didnt, it just sat there and allowed me to take 40 odd images.......its nice to come home with something in the can.

Isn't it starnge how often good shots come right at the very end of a session? Another superb piece of work, Tony.

A great shot this, I really like it. I can never get close enough to them, or most frustratingly they take JUST as I've got them in my viewfinder!!

I checked out your website too, and their are some cracking pictures in it. Congrats! :toast:

Yeah I'd be pretty happy if most of my frustrating days turned out like this. Really nice tones and a beautiful bird to boot. Feather detail is spot on. :toast:

Tony,

What a great shot, did you consider putting it on Birdguides for photo of the week?
