Very nice, Ed! Blast offs are just amazing. I can't think of any other animal in the U.S. that can put on such a display and in such high numbers. Where did you encounter these birds...Holla Bend NWR?

Don

I like this Ed, mass exodus on the wing! And as luck would have it, I don't have an image like this. But I'm hoping to rectify that situation because I'm planning to attend the Rivers and Wildlife Conference in Kearny, NE to hear about and witness the sandhill crane migration this spring. Maybe I can fill a couple of frames like this with sandhill cranes!
Ed: Well I don't have one so this is a treat. Frame filling fantastic. >=))>

Very nice. The power of the blast off is amazing and I was lucky enough to share it with my wife a couple weeks ago. It was her first time to see such a large flock take off and it truly amazed her :).

Don, Shot this image just North of Helena. These bad boys were ALL OVER the rice fields there. No slinking around or anything, just hung the 600mm out the drivers window. Thank goodness for VR.

The mixture of black and white coloration ads some nice visual excitement to this

What a great shot, Ed! Nice crisp detail and homogenous grouping for the composition. Reminds me of M.C. Escher's work...
