Another from my trip to California in October. Somewhere on the Tioga Pass road in Yosemite. I liked the moon and the top of the tree but again I'm not sure about the oomph factor. All comments welcome. >=))>

Beautiful composition, nicely seen! Maybe a tad early in the day for that really knock your socks off light? Of course waiting later would have meant the moon wouldn't be where it is in the shot...

I like this Bill. It's well-composed and the dead trunk and limbs are an interesting subject. I'd give it an overall oomph rating of 5 out 10! I agree with Scott on the lighting; you might try selecting the tree and applying a warming filter to it

I was thinking the same thing as John ... applying a photo filter to warm up the trees. Nice combination of elements here Bill. Thanks for sharing.

I like the shot Bill, it might not have the overall oomph factor inherent to it your looking for possibly to start with, and try as we may photoshop can only do so much. The combination of the pine and dead trunk works for me and then to add the moon is extra nice touch. Seems somewhat lackluster on the color side, I think mostly with the amount of blue sky visible. I have been trying to remember when working with an image that I particularly like but just can't seem to get it to look the way I want, to try a b&w approach as well. You might just give that a look. This does have nice lines texture and that moon to work with.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh man, a BW version of this shot would be really cool to see!

Bill, I think the moon adds a nice element to your composition.
