Out this afternoon taking in the sunshine at the local beach..

I was amazed at the ignorance of some people who saw me laying on my belly in the wet sand photographing these guys. They would walk up the beach (towards me) behind the subject, scare the subject then almost step over me..!! Really quite annoying almost as if they own the beach and what right do I have to be there..!!

Well, despite lots of activity, and dogs, it meant that the birds were really quite tame and would walk within less than 0.5m from me at times. Some nice turnstones and a couple of sanderling were about..

Anyway, this one was just tidying up the last scraps of flesh from inside the crab..

Enjoy the rest of your weekend..

Would crop off the soft foreground, otherwise an excellent shot.

Size spot on for web presentation

I like that a lot. The foreground detail is a real bonus, but as Ray says, I don't think it would miss some of the really blurred stuff. Mark G and I were trying to photograph some tree creepers the other day and a lady in a bright turquoise jacket came and stood right next to me waving her arms about and asking what we were photographing. Answer ? "Nothing any more, thank you." Don't you just love them all?

Or they thought, "Oh a beached Whale with a camera" and came closer to investigate.

Well worth the effort Brett, fantastic detail.

I like this kind of image where it shows what the subject is up to. Foreground only a very minor nit. Nice details in the bird & good comp. a fine looking image .

Love the dof here Brett, I feel it accentuates the bird and shows more detail at the focal point. Nice work indeed.

I like the pov here, the shallow dof and the background.
Very nice detail :toast: :toast:

I like this a lot Brett, very nice light and colours. Perhaps slightly large in the frame but that certainly helps show off the detail.

Great light, good exposure and some nice detail on show, would like to see this in a landscape orientation........

Nice work.

Very nice indeed and the crab remains in the foreground make this more than just a portrait.
Having read the suggestion to lose the very bottom blurred part of the frame, I scrolled the screen down enough to lose it and although it works fine as presented, I think with a slight crop off the bottom it works equally well, if not slightly better.

Nice work, Brett. Who do these people think they are, walking on a public beach on a sunny afternoon? I think you are right, that it does at least get the birds habituated to people.

I nearly missed this one. Lovely image; nice point of view, great light and background. The foreground doesn't bother me at all. On the contrary, I think it's a nice bonus here.
