Today I tried my luck on this wonderful bird. I thought there would be many but I found just two. But this female showed her pretty face in nice lighting.
Very nice Edwin its a shame about the two shadows but what can you do ? Still a cracker

a bird I would love to photograph one day. This is very nice Edwin, I like the wintery feel. A slight shame about the shadows but nice to see the eye in sunlight.
As already mentioned the shadows falling across the head are unfortunate although thankfully they havn't put that beautiful eye in shadow.
Love the setting and that warm, winter light.

Hi Edwin
I'm going to buck the trend as I don't mind the shadow, I feel in a strange way it adds to the image. Had the eye been in shadow then it would have been a different story - very nice image!

It is not straight forward taking birds in reeds as you do tend to get shadows. I don't really think it affects the image too much. Love the icy reeds and the light on the bird (in the right areas too).

The shadows are a shame, but what the heck? I'd be dead chuffed if I had taken it. Lovely shot.
David
As has been mentioned the shadows are unfortunate, but Hey, this is still one cracking shot.

Nothing unfortunate about those shadows in my opinion...
I think they set the mood for this excellent image and draw the eye towards the lighter part where her eye is.
Well done and seen Ed!
