Eagle Owl (c)
Another from Saturday's session at Vince's place. Nice to meet everyone and thanks to Brian for organising and to Vince for hosting. The eagle owl was quite a spectacle.

ISO 400

Sigma 500mm f4.5

Photoshop CS2
Cropped approx 1/3 off

I think you pressed the button a tad early. I think the shot here, is when the owl has cleared the reeds, but with them bottom right in the frame.

Looks like you nailed the owl itself superbly.

How you managed to lock on to those eyes through the grassland is amazing, this I like a lot Tim.

I would be very proud of taking this

I like this one "as is" with just the eyes showing clearly through the grass.

I'm not quite sure, i can see either point of view. I think personally i just about prefer it as is as it gives a natural feel to it as the owl comes swooping out of the reeds. At the same time aesthetically speaking it may look nicer pressing the shutter 1/2 a second later ?

Either way i think it's a really nice image and well done !

Looks good to me.

I like the effect of it hunting through the grass.

Hi Tim

Didn't get that shot - love the way the bird is emerging out of the grass!
