The all new Plateau Visions Photography website! This is the first website I've ever built, and I wrote the whole mark-up myself. It was quite daunting at first having no HTML experience what so ever, but I'm pretty pleased with the result. I welcome any and all critiques. I'm sure I've made a few mistakes here and there, so if you see anything that appears out of place or incorrect, please let me know. There are a few new images as well that I just now got around to processing. I just looked at the new site in Firefox, and for some reason the aligment is messed up. It works fine in Internet Explorer, so I'll have to work on that.

Ok, well apparently the new site is having compatability issues with everything but IE which is what I used to preview the whole site as I was working on it.

John, that's pretty much most of my images that I'll be putting on the site. I tried to keep it around 75 of my best images. As I get newer better ones, i'll have to pick and chose which ones to drop, or maybe add a stock section. By the way, I mentioned you on the "Dawn on the Buttes shot"

I just tried looking at your site with Firefox. You are right, there are compatibility problems. The text doesn't line up in many areas. You also need to look at the way that you have your URL set up in your signature. Instead of being directed to www.plateauvisions.com, I am directed to http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/www.plateauvisions.com, which gets me a 404.

Good start! I know that you will get everything straightened out. It takes some doing to write the HTML code yourself and actually have it work. The bugs are a normal part of any programming I have ever seen!

Ok, I think I got all the text formatting fixed. I checked all the pages in Firefox and IE and everything seems to be in order. I knew this wasn't going to be easy.......

A super collection of images, John. I think your gallery showcases them well.

FWIW:

I find your BW background image distracting. More so with the text, such as your profile.
It's less distracting with the galleries, because of the color contrast.

It was not immediately obvious that some of your portfolios have multiple pages.
I almost didn't see the navigation to the next page. Would have hated to miss those images.
Since I'm using a high resolution screen, the numbers are probably much smaller.

When viewing an image, I have to use the browser button to get back to the portfolio.

By the way Bill, its Adam, not John. Thanks for the suggestion, I've had a couple people say the same thing.

So with all that html goodness behind you, you couldn't include a hyperlink to your site so we don't have to cut and paste? Oy!

Looks good, Adam. A next button to click between images would be nice. Also, I'd spell out OCE. I have no idea who they are.

My bad, sorry Todd I'm working on that fix Laurent. I've had numerous requests for that.

Your site seems to be working quite well in Firefox now. Great images. You may want to check your Mesa Arch and Horseshoe Bend images; on my monitor they appear to be needing some sharpening applied. The other images are plenty sharp.

Great job Adam. I viewed the site in Safari, and the only glitch I saw was on the home page, "Please feel free..." is placed on top of the preceding text. Your work is fantastic.

Nice job on the site and congrats on the wonderful images! I agree that navigation between images and back to the portfolio page would be nice.

Ok, I've added the "next image" link to each image page and a portfolios link to the last image in each portfolio. I think I may have it all tweaked now.........fingers crossed

Beautiful site Adam. Just a few tweaks and it will be perfect. Just a great collection of images.

Adam,

At first I didn't see the page 2 and page 3 options, so I finally did find the rest of your images.  Thanks for the mention on "Dawn on the Buttes" too.

John

Looks really, really good to me, Adam. No nits whatsover in IE.
I've always admired your work from this neck of the woods and am glad to finally see it displayed in such a professional format.

Amazing job for a first-timer at HTML/CSS!

You could probably go a bit darker on the background, to help with type readability. Not a huge problem though.

Good work.
