I was asked by a TV station to provide a price range for usage of my photo as a backdrop to their news set. The size is approx. 45ft wide by 7ft tall (their set design company will be printing for them, hence only a digital file is required). Does anyone have similar experience or know how to set the price range? This is different from any sale I had before, and I'd appreciate any suggestion (e-mail would be fine, too).

You might try some stock agency calculators like Getty or Corbis, purchase a copy of fotoQuote, or call the agencies directly. For a use like that, my only suggestion would be to charge a heck of a lot! By the way, if you give them a "range" they are always going to try for the least amount possible. Give them one number unless they ask for specific scenarios.
