Good fun the other day photographing these characters
As with Bretts post I think they were very used to people and dogs. Also must remember to take a roll may, frozen sand is mighty cold.
Quite a bit of work here, left band bird blurred to lessen distraction, levels tweaked to warm the image and the shadow of the bill on the left hand central bird cloned out.
I tried to rotate the image so the sand would be level but the key birds looked as though they had had a major pub lunch.
C and C appreciated

Looks like a good day with cracking light and POV - but very dark indeed, and I don't think it's my monitor.
I agree, I darked it so the whites did not look blown out, athough at higher res they still look OKish. I have had another go, any comments on the rotation also welcome

definite improvement on the brightness although the background is really distracting, imagine these two without the other birds.
The second image seems just about right, still detail in the highlights. I agree about the BG being a little distracting but it must be difficult to isolate these little guys ! It's a shame as I think if could have looked quite an intimate image between the two birds if they were tightly cropped to isolate.
Otherwise it's a nice image in terms on environment though.

A nice image. Regarding rotation, might it be easier to judge the vertical than the horizontal in this case? Reflections should appear vertically below their counterparts on the bird so to me that means I think that you need to rotate this clockwise - just a thought.
I do like the second one best. Also like the panorama view in this including the BG. No problem for me.

The brightness of the foreground birds in the repost looks fine to me Ian. The OOF birds in the background are pretty distracting in both posts, sometimes such juxtapositions are just unavoidable.
Orientation of No. 1 and brightness of No.2, I would also consider cropping both sides, and possibly some cloning, as I don’t think you will lose flock aspect of the shot, but will increase the emphasis on the main subjects.
P.S. Could you find out what the L.H. bird was drinking in No.2, as I would like some.
