with Erik, shooting sunrise yesterday above Dream Lake. The infamous winds were draping the peaks in snow and clouds. Here's the 'king of RMNP' hard at work--the guy just cannot stand still, even for 20 seconds, but i kind of like the blur!

This is from the day before, gives an idea of the non-stop winds hitting the Divide!

Cool, You guys got it made out there Stan, man, just give me 1/100 of the snow you guys get here at home, and I would be in heaven. Winter here consists of no snow, bitter temps, and if weather seems to come, freezing rain. I just want Snow!

I'll say one thing: "You guys are determined." Great images.

Very cool Stan! Your snow in Colorado looks almost as good as ours here, in Utah. I said almost, because we have the best snow on earth, but I am sure you know that.
Could you also add a photo of you shooting in that 45 deg. slope?
BTW how many miles/ or hours hiking did you put on that trip? The mountains look very pretty. I am sure you were all excited to be there. I would be too.

Looks like an amazing sunrise. I like the first one, how you can see the gap on the horizon.

This was just a couple miles, Gabi, but it took me a while cause im in lousy shape! Erik originally wanted to go 8 miles, fortunately i talked him out of it

Good to see you were rewarded with some sweet light for your efforts. Erik's suggestion to go 8 miles would've made me cringe as well!!

Great stuff, Stan. I love #2 and the one you posted on E,S,&S. This is making me sorry I stayed home yesterday. (I live 30 minutes from RMNP)
Here's what I was shooting while Stan was shooting me. Looks like I have a bit of a different white balance set.

You guys were well rewarded with your early morning efforts. Looking at those clouds, you had a very narrow window of opportunity, with a big risk of no light happening. You rolled the dice and won! I like all the pics, but really like Erik's blend of cool and warm tones, great job.

That is true, Erik, i will email you some thoughts about that. I basically used a custom WB to try to capture what i saw, but it was definitely challenging and im not sure on the results. Id be curious what you think--check your email!
