Fiesty fieldfare
This fieldfare was not for sharing his apple with anyone! It was an apple that I had placed exactly where I wanted it so a full frame shot would make the bird just the size I wanted .. so the bird pushes the apple along towards me until it was just that bit too close. Next step was to wander over to where I was concealed (so I thought) in a ditch, admire his reflection in the glass by standing about a foot away from the lens hood and then saunter back to the apple. One very cool fieldfare

Lovely shot Dave, wonderful colours. The oof foreground is slightly distracting but a that's very minor nit.

An excellent portrait. I would suggest cropping off the “mush” in the foreground, as I find it completely unnatural, and adds nothing to the image. After many years of looking thro’ these peepers, I have yet to see this effect across the bottom of my vision. But hey, that’s just me.

I agree Ray. I've now tried it with less oof foreground and it does indeed look much better
