I don't have ANY specifics, I just read of this on another forum - just posted. Apparently Jean Keene is not expected to survive the night. Again, I don't know anything more than this, but her health has been poor for quite a while now. Regardless, please keep her & her family/friends in your thoughts. If true, this is sad news indeed. I will post more when I hear more.

I certainly hope the people and City of Homer provides some recognition for her.

I'm hoping someone will start a memorial fund for her - if I have to be the one, I'd be proud to. I think, once the time does come, it'd be very appropriate to have a monument dedicated to her and her actions at/near the site of her home on the Spit. Something with a lone (or multiple?) Bald Eagle(s) head back and calling while sitting on a pedestal or "perch" looking out over the water... sappy? Maybe, but she's earned her recognition.
I did just hear that she was still hanging on, knowing her - she's going to go on her terms, just the way she lives her life! Please keep her in your thoughts.

Just to pass this on, from Lonnie (Jean's son):
Hello Everyone
It is with a very heavy heart that I let you know that my beautiful
and amazing mother has departed this mortal coil and is soaring over
the mountains into a gorgeous sunset... Thank you all for so much. I
truly appreciate it. The celebration begins now, OK?
Lonnie
Lonnie has been gracious enough to keep us informed by joining the Naturescapes forum. I don't think anyone else could have said it so eloquently, and so appropriately, other than her son. God bless, and rest in peace.
My condolences to you and your family. Your mother was an inspiration to us all. We will all (especially her eagles) miss her very much. The world is a better place having known her.
