Hello,
My local nature reserve's lake has been frozen solid for days, but on Sunday as the weather was a few degrees warmer it had started to thaw - very slowly. There was around half an inch, maybe less, of water on the lake, and underneath it was still frozen solid. There were a number of resident swans who could not understand why they couldn't fly across the lake and land as normal - but they kept trying.
I caught a sequence of shots of this one adult trying to land on half an inch of water many times, it just would not give up
Made for a cheerful morning anyway..
