Rock Creek Winter Sunrise
Went for a little walk up that way. My cheesy Sunto watch said it was -10 out that morning not sure that was correct.

**make 10 degrees not -10. My mistake.

 Man I wish I was out there right now. This is wonderful, Steve. It also looks pretty darn cold out there too. -10 is plenty cold. If there was any wind at all at that temperature it becomes plenty tough for any photo work.

Perfect timing on this one, Steve. Great image.

Steve,

This is gorgeous! Great job handling the exposure; did you use a grad or a multi-exposure blend? No matter, this is really beautiful. I love the soft pastel color in the water.

Thanks guys. No wind at all lucky for me.

Lon, It's just one exposure taken w/ a 2 stop soft grad and polarizer that really did a number since my point of view was probably exactly 90 degrees from the sun. Huge difference in the scene w/ out the polarizer. The sky had zero noticeable cloud in the exposure w/ out the PL on there but still didn't fill the histogram. I double raw processed the raw file +2 ev steps. I still had some room on the edge of the histogram on both shots un pl and pl.

Didn't make it as far up the road as I wanted to so it was frustrating composing here because I had to stop hiking and gave up the distance goal. Barely got this one off.

Sweet scene, Steve. -10 is way cold!!! Must be tough working when it is that chilly.

I had 3 layers under a down jacket, 2 beanies on and Neg 40 degree boots on. So didn't feel it much at all but that's why I didn't believe the watch. Then it died and came back to life at lunch time. All that gear sure slows you down. I didn't even use my 70-200 3lb lens. Should of left it.

Very nice, Steve. I really like the kiss of sunlight on the mountain peaks and all that "cold" in the remainder of the image, well done :toast:

Steve,
Very nice composition. I like the way you've used the stream to lead the eye into the sun lit peaks. Wonderful shot. Best Regards.

Beautiful. I know this place well and you did very well with the exposure. Is this a blend?
