1st Dipper
Out of dozens of shots only this & one other were worth keeping. the light was poor so shutter speeds were low & the Dippers heads never seemed to stop bobbing up & down so most shots were blurred.
Not an easy subject.

All comments & advice welcome

You did well to get that under the conditions . I have to say though the grass lets it down Lee .
I know its growing through the moss as it sometimes does, but it seems out of place with a dipper. Good bird shot though.
Just my opinion.

Given the circumstances, you did well. It's a nice shot, but you might consider to position the brid a little less central.

Nits mentioned... one of my targets for 2009.

Perhaps some selective noise reduction in the bg....

Hello Lee.

I got my first Dippers last year and they are my favourite from 2008.

Thats a nice capture for your first one and the only nit would be the noise in the back ground. Would agree with Phil and try some noise reduction.

I like it as it is Lee,
its not easy to expose properly because the white breast feathers
I have the 20D too, 800iso is a challenge with this camera.
I use the Raw Shooter Essentials converter and I am happy with it.

Alright buddy,

It's certainly better than any I managed that morning, the noise issue has been covered and you've done a great job on the exposure, we'll nail them next time

Needs more seperation from the B.G. still a nice shot, and a great foundation to work from.
