How about a Mallard?
There have been a lot of eagle postings, but how about this guy? I couldn't find any eagles out today.

It was 23 below zero this morning and the ducks are out catching fish. I was able to catch this image on the river were the current is too strong to freeze up (it almost has). That's not water on the duck's back and face, it's ice! Nature is amazing. I'm freezing, and this guy and his friends are diving under and playing around like its spring.

Hope you're all enjoying winter! :frown:

I'm sure they're loving every minute of it, Mike, although when on land in the winter, they do like to huddle together to stay warm..go figure!

Nice shot Mike. Nothing wrong with a Mallard in my book, have a few of them as well they have pretty well left our area at the moment. I know the water is warmer than the air but it is the getting in and out that get me, especially the in.

The inclusion of the ice is what really allows this image to tell a story, IMO.

It's supposed to be -26 in the Chicago area overnight...sheesh.

The ice makes this an interesting shot.
