Why I really went to New Mexico
I have pre-visualized this image for a number years and have on several attempts been thwarted by clouds and weather. Finally this past weekend the conditions were perfect for the White Sands full Moon set in the earth shadow before sunrise. Enjoy! I will bring a print of this to the shindig.

I really like the rainbow effect in the cloud bank. I live in NM and every time I've been to WS it's been overcast. I think the contrast could use a boost, and possibly a little cropping. Great image.

(Cloudbank? What cloudbank?)

Great shot, Steve! By bringing a print to the shindig, does that mean this will be in the print exchange? Wouldn't mind going for the two-for-two treatment by snagging a print of this. The one of yours I got last year faces my desk where I can see it every minute I'm working, which is something I can't even say for my own photos!

Jim'
It is not a cloud bank, its the earth's shadow that gives a pink and blue band before sunrise or after sunset with a clear horizon opposite the rising or setting sun.

Todd: we can work something out. I was planning on another print for the exchange.

Oops! I guess I'll have to start getting out earlier, or staying later. I guess if it were a cloud bank, the moon would be hidden or a lot bigger!

C'mon Steve. We know you REALLY came to New Mexico for a Blue Corn Green Chile Chicken Enchilada!!!!

I like the photo--magnificent desolation!

Very nice! My personal preference would lean towards a bump in contrast in saturation, but to each his/her own. I've been seeing a number of full moon White Sands shots lately and its got me considering heading out there during the next cycle.

I really like this, but I too think it could benefit from a slight boost in contrast and saturation. I love the earth shadow.

Fantastic Steve and a fairly hard image to get as I understand it.

Very nice, Steve! I love the compositional lines moving through the center of the frame.
