Great grey owl wide.
This Great grey owl was from last June but has only just found its way to the top of the processing pile. It was part of a Wild Wonders of Europe mission - speaking of which, check out some very very nice images by Sandra Bartocha, a young German photographer, in the 'Photographer of the week' section.

great image, the landing pose of the owl and the dappled lighting on the forest are both wonderful, the foreground out of focus vegetation below the tree is a tiny bit distracting but not too bad, this must look even better bigger

Beautiful image which, with in my humble opinion, a little more separation would enable a comment more like "perfect" !

I must admit that my first glance at this said "a bit lost in the bg" but the more I look at it, the less it bothers me and the more I like the way that the bird blends into its environment.
I absolutely love this image anyway.

It is an awesome wildlife image. I love this contextual style of wildlife photography. I think it may have just suffered a little in the JPEG compression. There must be so much detail the background, but is it a little smudged? Brilliant shot!

Needs more seperation from the B.G. for me, but still an excellent shot of the Great Grey in its enviromrnt.

I really like this, it shoes the environment well, 17-40! Was this a camera trap/trigger or were you really that close?
