Salt Tower
This one I took some weeks ago. My wife ask me to make photographs of these "zouttorentjes" (lit. translated "Salt Towers").
As some countries has oil in their soil, we do have salt in it.
These towers are pumping water into the deep and then pumping it up to transport it to the slat factory to refine it. (e.g. "Boekelo Zout")
These towers are very region specific and by this time they are almost all replaced by more modern and less impressive one's (they look more like hen houses).
On some places there are these old ones on their place and with the snow the make a great contrast as black towers.
Hope you like it.

C&C welcome.

@Barry,

I don't think the canals are frozen on that side of the country. When I was in Amsterdam last week most of the channels are open due to not freezing any more. There may be some ice on it but most is covered wit a thin layer of water. May be when it gets freezing again.
Have a nice time in Alkmaar. It's a nice city with some old buildings.
