I just had a customer contact me about doing a print 60" x 60". Can anyone recommend a good place to have this done? Has anyone done prints this large? Also, how would you mount one of these?

Thanks!

What about the place you used in Boulder fro that big Pano? I've never seen a 60" inch print except a large poster.

You would need either an Epson 11880 or a Roland of larger size. I believe that Lenny Eiger has a 54" Roland. Another option is to contact Duggal in NYC. They do large scale printing and may have the appropriate equipment.

Thanks to everyone who's posted here and written to me personally. I'll check out some of these places and see what I can find. Jack, PhotoCraft in Boulder only prints to 48" wide.

Eric,

I can print 64" by any length on roll material, or 6'x10' direct on rigid substates (foamboard, acrylics.metals, etc).

I don't normally offer printing services, but I will for any RMNP members.

Let me know if you're interested and I can fill you in on the process.

Thanks,
Vince

Give me a call and I'll fill you in. I'm located in Arvada and you're welcome to stop by if you're in the area.

Thanks,

Hi Erik,

WOW! Congratulations!

I was curious so I did a bit of checking. Fine Print Imaging in Fort Collins has a printer that will print wider than 60" but the canvas and Somerset Velvet media they print on comes no wider than 60" and they can't quite print all the way to the edge (told me probably 59 1/2). The print may be the easy part.

With canvas, you can do gallery wrap with custom made stretcher bars and get to 57", Gatorfoam comes as big as 60x120, but how to get it mounted? With canvas you can use a gel/glue ( I think Miracle Muck is one) that can be used without a press - use a roller to smooth it out. I seem to remember a place in Denver that did this process when I was first looking into canves, but don't remember it's name. Canvas, of course, has a varnish over the top to protect the surface.

If you don't use canvas, you have to figure a way to protect the print, and a way to mount it. I just checked out places like ABC Moulding and a couple local frame shops and no one has a bigger vacumount than 48" wide, and I didn't find a laminate wider than 48". Maybe this stuff exists, but will require a place that specializes in doing large prints. Dry mount tissue and even Release Paper didn't seem to come that large either.

Hopefully Vince has the solution. I'd be curious to know what you end up doing.

Thanks, and best wishes,
