Stacked Duck
Carolina Wood Duck
Not exactly captive but not exactly "wild " Local park lake
Two stacked images
Focused on the head and then the beak tip. Took about two dozen images hand merged in PSP7 Took ages to find the right two ! Good fun though. Nothing much else about.
D200 Sigma 100-300mm
500 ISO 80th @5.6
Crop and resize/bi linear re-sharpen in PSP7

A very colourful imag John. The details are fantastic & the tight crop has worked very well.
Good stuff.
I have not yet tried to stack images but will have a go.

Thanks Lea
I don't normally go for this kind of thing but it's interesting. Makes you look at things differently. Of course every one has alternative ideas ( especially to mine ! )

John

That's interesting I assume the selected images are identical which results in a stronger final image. From your description these are not just consecutive shots.

I like the colour detail.

Yes they may well have been but I,d have to go back and find the originals, (which I may not have saved after merging ! )

Amazing! I have seen this stacking technique on the flora site, but not on birds. You've got us all thinking now!

Thanks - yes its good fun. You have to have a co-operative subject obviously but it does work . I also did a Grey Wag perched back on to me . Focused on the head and tail alternately and kept banging away. Not to Alan Bryants quality but useable I think. Passes the time when you.ve got a real posey bird too!
Done manually by the way not with software.
Cheers
