Hi John,

Thats a very impressive bit of action to capture. Its a real shame the Nictitating membrane is not fully closed and giving the Eye an odd look, totally out of your control though, do you have a shot a second or so later????

Thanks for sharing

Regards

Rob

Hi John

I had a lot of shots like this with membrane down, its a great shot none the less, but better without it but thats the way it goes its the natural behaviour of the bird!!!

Cheers

Craig

Love this - great action, great light, great pose from both bird and fish, excellent composition with a bit of water and a blurry green backdrop, and the eye is just fine for me - perfectly normal and illustrative of natural behaviour.

Hi Folks, thanks for your comments. Rob as Craig stated when the Osprey hits the water it closes it's eyes, same as birds diving into snow do the same. The next shot I got in the sequence the wings cover the Osprey's face! that is how it goes. :toast:

A great picture of what looks to be a small trout, pleasing to have the eye looking towards the camera also. Possibly could be improved by cloning out that huge thing clinging to its back

Only Joking  Totally awesome, nuff said!

Friend of mine fishing pulled a huge pike out of a highland loch and found the remains of an osprey attached to its back.

Slight shame about the eyes but it is a belter of an image indeed John.

Great shot - one which I'm sure we all dream about getting. I'd be really interested to hear more about how you got it - were you on a boat? (you must have been close and it seems the background is fairly close too) Do they tend to have a favourite spot? I've seen an osprey do this, but not when I had my camera :frown: Hopefully one day.....

I love the eye of the Osprey...and of the fish!
Well done!

Quite outstanding, in all respects, an excellent shot. I seem to remember seeing a very similar shot, by Philip Newman, was it the same location ??

The eye doesn't bother me in the slightest and I wouldn't care if it was wearing sunglasses!!!

The eye doesn't bother me a jot either John - it's actually showing reality, though I perfectly understand why some might find it distracting.

Top action capture - for me the only nit is the BG definition - bit too much for me. But there again the thought of trying to nail the shot at 600 or 800mm is a bit scary

But as action captures go John it's up there with the very best of them - very nice job squire :wavey: :wavey:
