Yellow Mtn Earthshadow
I hope you all had a good 3-day weekend!

Here's a shot of Yellow Mtn (south of Ophir) illuminated by the pre-sunrise dawn glow.

This is a stitched photo of three vertical shots, taken with the Oly E-420 @ 12mm (24mm equiv).

I hiked up here in the dark one morning this weekend while I was staying at some friends' backcountry cabin around there.

I posted some more photos from the trip here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery.php?gallery=wintercabin

Thanks for looking!

Wow........
Beautiful Capture Jack, really liking the sweet tones in this.
Great series of photos, that last one is a view to die for.

Great series of images Jack. Looks like you just have a little bit of snow down your way.

Oh Yeah! Nice series. Nothing cheesy about that last one either.

Man, I need some friends like that! Great colection, Jack. Yellow Mountain sure looks more gnarly from that angle than what you see from the highway.

One question. The moonlight shot. How?
Posted by Jack Brauer on January 20, 2009 at 1:55 PM
Todd - The moonlight shot was a 60sec exposure, ISO 200, with focus set at infinity. I gave is a slight levels boost, but not much, so as to preserve the dark night feel. Pretty easy.

An awesome series, Jack! The're all great - but the "cover" shot kills.

Really love #s 1010 and 1013, but they are all excellent. Looks like a great trip.

Your usual terrific work, Jack. Really love the shot you posted. And what a great place to have a cabin!! They need to create a jealousy emoticon for these situations!

What a spot for a cabin!

The shot you've posted here is really nice as is the "lifestyle" shot at the cabin.

Man, I hate you. They're all great as usual. And I love the lifestyle shot. Man, what a view!

Great series Jack, all the images have a slightly different feel and mood - even the lifestyle one is really nice!.

You've got some great stuff here, Jack. I am totally jealous of your adventures.

Cool!! I like 1010 and this one the best. The lifestyle shot looks like a nice marketable shot as well

Very, very cooooool ! Those are some great friends to have! Really like Yellow Mt from this angle and the inside cabin shot...In the YellowMt shot, where is Trout Lake sitting, on the other side from this view? or to the left of YMt ?

Wonderful series Jack. And I have extreme backcountry cabin jealousy too!

The curve in the earth shadow here is awesome.
