Braced for the cold
We've got a real winter this year in the northland. More snow, then cold on the way again for this weekend.

Ran into this fella near the edge of the BWCA last week. Looks like he knew what was coming later that night - -30 and windchills getting down close to -50. Shot with a Canon 50D, 100-400L ISO 800 f/6.3 and 1/400th second:

Well captured Ken. The two branches at the bottom balance the photo nicely and the feather detail is excellent. The snowflakes and the background bokeh help too.

This little one is really all fluffed up for the cold! Beautiful capture, Ken.

Fantastic shot, I wish I could make it up to that area more often, I just got back from a 5 day snowshoeing trip up there and it wasn't nearly long enough! It's amazing up there! Beautifully captured!

Welcome to the group. Nice capture. He sure looks puffed up for the cold weather. I caught a Goldfinch the other day when it was -20 without the windchil and he was really puffed up.

Welcome and well done, Ken. A wonderfully cold winter scene, and I love the composition. It all provides a cold, lonely feeling. Well done on the exposure as well. Looking forward to more in the future.

This is a beauty of a shot, Ken. Catching some snowflakes really puts it over the top, IMO.
