It is actually hemmed in hollow. To me it looks like I am looking out of a giant fish mouth with icicles for teeth that is about to swallow the hollow.

I like it, Matthew. It has a nice sweep to it, and it is well composed with the canyon floor arranged as a diagonal carrying you through the image. The big U-shaped sweep formed by the canyon walls and the snow-covered ledge is interrupted, though, and it might have been better to have avoided that by including more foreground, depending on what was there, of course.

Awesome, if the fish had swallowed we would have never seen this.

Very interesting view, Matthew - I admit that I'm left wondering how exactly that you got it.
It's five shots stitched together shot at 18mm. My back couldn't be closer to the wall. Just getting up there was difficult it was about 10 degrees and all that white you see is ice covered with about a half inch of snow. So it was slick to say the least.

Were you part-way up on the shelf (really tricky given the conditions), or were you at the bottom?

definitely looks like a toothy fish swallowed you :), nice job on the blend

I'd say you nailed the scene's description. Nice job with the stitching here, it creates an interesting perspective. This would have been even better if the bright ice at the bottom had carried across the entire frame. Very nice idea & well executed Matthew.
Once I go home and looked at the images I was asking myself why I stood there instead of more to the right I would have liked to include more of the ice at the bottom but it didn't happen. Hindsight is 20/20 as usual
