Goldeneye are one of the speciality species of the Cairngorms and return to their favoured lochs in early February for the breeding season. Occasionally, the conditions come together for this, my favourite type of image.
I quite like this image, perhaps just a personal thing but seems a little too misty for me. It'd be nice to have a little more contrast, just a touch mind. I guess it must be where the water meets the mist of a loch bank but it seems to make a little wonky feeling to the overall image.
That said, it really is quite a nice image and I can see why you like this type of image yourself. I would imagine this could look quite nice blown right up !
On a very personal note, I would crop some from the top and L.H. side so as to increase the emphasis on the “Goldeneye”. But as I said this is a personal thing and very subjective.
A memorable image, well thought out and taken.
As I suspect you are aware, you do need a title with this one.

I really think this works well. Good comp and colours.
Don't change a thing if you ask me.

I see why you like this - I do too. I agree about the contrast - especially in the background, but that' s down to personal taste of course. There's a spot behind the middle duck that caught my eye
By the way, your wildcat images in the RSPB magazine are amazing - I hope everyone sees them! (odd though, now I think about it, to see a cat in a bird magazine!).
Very nice Peter, why could it not have been like this a week ago when I was there?

Nice shooting Pete, just need to remove that dust shot above the middle bird and then it will be spot on.

Thanks for pointing out the dust spot - for some bizarre reason, it only shows up on this 'copy'.
Sorry, 'gloves' only because it was cold - well below freezing. I took a few with a 500 and also with a 70-200 where the birds are VERY small. For me, I like this amount of space relative to the subjects but not for everyone I know.
