This is my first digital posting, and I'm curious what it looks like on "good" screens. The snow washed out? Too dark? This was done with Canon DPP.

It looks pretty good to me. It might be tad too blue, so I might increase the color temp a bit on the white balance. It might be a bit too dark and I might boost the contrast a bit. But these are minor nits, especially for a web shot, since most people viewing it won't have their monitors calibrated anyway. But if you do want to calibrate your monitor for getting prints, etc., you can purchase something like Monaco Optix XR for that. It will help a lot to make sure the colors & darkness are accurate, even on a cheap monitor.
Oh, and this is a very nice shot!

Nice shot Cynthia. I agree with Grant: it appears to be a little underexposed, maybe give the snow another 1/2 stop. Otherwise it's a great image. I like the warmth of the colors in the logs contrasted against the snow. The view through the window is pretty cool too.
Very nice image, Cynthia. Congrats on your digital transition - now you get to drool over a new camera every year!

Looks good on my monitor!!! Never been to that spot.
BTW, two good photo clubs near you, one is Focus which meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays near C470 and Quebec, lots of nature/landscape images as well as other images. 1st meeting of month is presentation, 2nd is monthly contest
The 2nd club meets at Wildlife Experience on Lincoln near I25, its totally a nature/landscape group.
Might want to check them out!

It looks perfect on my monitor. But I agree with others about checking your images using a typical display. Great shot by the way. I love the band of snow.

Great shot Cynthia, I like it a lot. Love the texture of the wood.
Thanks guys...to get the warmth I upped the saturation a little bit, but I was worried about the snow being washed out so I took down the brightness a tiny bit. I suppose if I upped the contrast that would brighten the snow, right? It looks good on my work monitor, which isn't saying much, but I do see the blue/grey cast, and I hate grey snow...but it was a pretty grey day. I haven't figured out what to do with white balance or color temp in DPP...I have this feeling I haven't discovered everything the program can do.
Very nice, Cynthia. Do you want to give that new camera a good break-in tomorrow in RMNP? Like for sunrise. I live in Parker, too, so carpooling would be nice.

Nice unique comp Cynthia. Glad you got some good photos from the trip! The increase in blue probably came from the saturation boost so the color balance could be warmed up maybe a little bit more. The snow looks exposed very well though, definitely not washed out. Well done.
