I have been working on a few images from the south rim that I took last week. Here is one of them. I realize the time of day was not good (noon) and the sky is 100% clear at this time, but how often can you cut out of work and spend the day on the south rim? I'll take what I get.

Please give some C&C. I sure would like to "squeeze a little more blood from this turnip" before I move on to the next one.

Frankly, given your admitted limitations, I'm not sure that anything more can be done here.
The midday light is pretty flat, which gives the canyon very little dimension or color.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but sometimes you just need to enjoy the view and not worry about taking photos. Unless you just want a record/memory shot, if conditions ( ie particularly light) are not right why do it. You become a much better photographer when you know when not to take the photo

John and Steve:

Thanks for the comments. No hard feelings. I knew it was not going to be a classic when I pushed the shutter. Just didn't know if someone saw something in this worth additional effort.

I was with an older co-worker who has never been to the rim. I wanted to pass along a few keepsake shots to him to help him recall the trip and the time there.

I'll be moving on to images made closer to sunset then.
