Time Stands Still
A comment on my other thread reminded me that I'd never posted this image on NPN before, so I'm posting it now and would like to get some opinions. This was certainly one of those moments when the scene just spoke for itself. Almost no processing, just simple, peaceful nature.

1Ds III, 24mm, polarizer, 3-stop soft GND, 2 seconds at f/16. Glacier Park.

I really like the color palette in this one. It definately speaks of fall. For being such a simple photograph, there is a lot to look at. i found myself enjoying the immediate FG, and bare tree, and then led off into the distant mountains by the shoreline curve. Compositionally, perfectly executed.

As you've pointed out, Marc, it is the simplicity, color palette, and light of this scene that pulls the viewer in. This one I could look at for a good, long time!

The soft color palette really is quite nice, as mentioned by others. I'm having trouble accepting the placement of that tree. I feel like if it were placed lower, against the water only and not breaching the mountains, that it would give more strength to the image. Does that make sense?

Nice image. I prefer your other and more creative photos, though...

Simple and elegant. I have no critiques to offer on this one, Marc. Its a very soft and "happy" mooded image, soothing to look at.

Marc, Very nice soft pastel colors. I think your comp is great. The foreground colors and placement of the rock on the bottom left draw me in nicely. You really have me wondering what lake this is in the park?

My first thought was peaceful. A place to have a relationship with nature. Evokes an emotional response from me.

Another very nice capture. I really like the pastels in this image. As people have said simple but at the same time it makes a statement.

Pleasant image, peaceful. I feel as though I'm looking at the foliage through a heavy warming filter.

Well, sorry to go against the flow, but while a nice & pretty shot of a wonderful scene, it is a little weak for me. The tree in the middle isn't helping - to me, instead it is distracting. I hope you know where I'm coming from. It's very lovely but doesn't have the xtra element that would help make this memoriable enough.

Hope baby comes soon - I am sure Annie wants baby out more than any of us.!! Send her my best.

My thoughts exactly, John, but I figured since the rest of my images have some stronger, more memorable elements in them, simple was a good thing here. There are those out there who just want simple.

Anni saw the doc yesterday and things are doing fine. She thought it would be this week, but it's always hard to tell. The docs said definitely before the 29th.

I think I might have wandered over there and busted that branch down.

Peggy was two weeks late. At a certain point, the doctors won't wait any longer since the baby keeps growning and the fluids start degenerating.

The first ultrasound said the 26th was the due date. Docs said wait until a week after that before any additional steps would be taken.

I'm all over this Marc. In addition to simplicity of the comp, I must compliment you on not overdoing the contrast as well. Your work on photos with the majority of the image in the lower half of the histogram is a real strength.
