Well, Justin asked me to post some of my photos from the evening of the 21st of Pikes Peak. Mine were taken from a ridge just a 1/2 mile from where I live in Parker where there are no power lines or a lot of urban sprawl to get in the way...I'd been searching for a spot like this for months and it turned out to be in my neighborhood. I've been taking photos from this spot during Dec. and Jan. when the sun sets the furthest south to get the most color around the Peak. I couldn't believe a slight glow actually lit up the peak.
Too dark or sharp?...I'm addicted to sharpening and afraid I might be over doing it.
I really like these. I think the sharpening may be a tad high, but overall, it looks OK. Thanks for posting!

Wow, those bring back nice memories from my childhood, growing up in Parker, when Parker was a small town. We had almost the exact view from the hill above our house.
Great sky! But yes, you over-did it a bit with the sharpening. The white outline on the mountains is a tell-tale sign of over sharpening. But that is fixed easily enough. Beautiful shots!!

Killer view to have in your own neighborhood! I miss being able to hop out of bed and a few minutes later be shooting the Flatirons.
If you're a morning person, you should be able to get some really sweet shots of full moon setting around sunrise. Next opportunity would be Feb 9th or 10th.
For sharpening, try the Marc Adamus technique - it'll help keep things under control while still looking tack sharp.

Thanks for sharing. Agree on the sharpening comments. Would like to find a similar location.

Great pastels. I like the additional blue in #2.
Looks like you almost live in Colorado Springs!
Yes, you definitely need treatment for your sharpening addiction!

Cynthia. These are beautiful images. The first is my favorite, but I agree about the sharpening.
