Bullfinch
1D2n, 600mm f4is x1.4, 1/160s, f7.1, iso 400.

I was looking for stonechat today but found none. However this fellow turned up instead so I was happy enough. Great to be out again - my lens collar was stuck for a month, so couldn't use the tripod.

hi Ian really like the picture and composition,, I really love these birds. My only nit is the processing, you have a lot of colour noise in the background, which can be easily removed.

Thanks for the comments.

Mark - you're absolutely right, I forgot about the noise. I've had a go, and it was actually quite tricky to do it without losing the detail in the twigs. Seems I also forgot to convert to profile and lost some of the colour. Hope this is better.

Hello Ian.

One of the nicest Bullfinch pictures I've seen for a while.

Excellent detail on the bird.

Very nice indeed.
Both look OK to me .
A tiny bit too much contrasty I feel (just a gnats whisker ! )
. No big deal though
Cheers

Preferred the first one,bit of a halo around the head on the second the first one looks more natural.

Lovely shot. Second shot`s colours look a little too saturated to me. Also agree on reducing contrast just a smidgeon.

Lovely shot, like them both.

A very nice Bullfinch image Ian, I hadn't seen one of these for year's then the other day I four. I didn't manage to get a shot anywhere near the quality of this one.

Very nice. :toast: :toast:

An excellent, all the more so, from your implied handheld situation. As I said, an excellent shot.
