Taken in lee valley park, herts... my first clean shot of a bittern in over 4yrs! Just a record shot unfortunately, the bugger decided he didn't quite appreciate the attention of 25+ ppl including one with a RED xHD video cam!

Canon 40D, ISO800, f5.6, 1/400, 400mm f5.6L

Better than anything I have on these birds. Head a bit soft and background a bit busy as they say but would do in my drawer!!
Good stuff !
Cheers

Nice shot Szekiat! I agree about the busy background, maybe a lower POV would have remedied this.

thanks guys, u're too kind!
JohnR: It was literally a snap shot and i didn't really have time to look where i was focused on... a pity about the slightly soft head as u say!

Billy: Would have love to go lower but am limited by the height of the hide which is unfortunately now a whole meter taller than what it used to be.

Szekiat, It was probably so mobbed as there was a BBC news item that this bird had been rescued during the cold snap and was released back on the Fri. I had to laugh when there was an orderly queue out of the hide door. Any other weekend and you would have had the hide to yourself.

Regards

Szekiat

A very good capture of an elusive subject in its environment. I like it.

nice environment shot, pity about the angle but not much you can do from there, nice to see they're around, even if it ain't like it used to be
